Implant dentistry: Modern innovation
Dr. Cooper is a member of the International team for
Implantology and has been providing implant restorative
procedures to his patients for over 2 decades. He was one of the
first providers of implants in the National Capital Region and is
active as a mentor and lecturer on the subject. Colleagues and
satisfied patients regularly refer patients requiring implants to
him. Often embarrassed patients, who cannot function properly with
a denture, will overcome their disability with modern implant
technology.
Implants are “bionic” artificial tooth roots made from titanium, a
biocompatible metal. They are inserted into the jawbone to replace
the missing roots of natural tooth. With today’s techniques,
implantology success rates can be expected to be up to 98%, often
higher than any other alternative dental treatment.
Single Implants:
A dental implant is an artificial root, which is inserted into the
jawbone to replace a single missing root. A replacement tooth
is attached to the implant. A sufficient volume and density of bone
is a prerequisite for implant success. Single implants can be used
to support crowns or stabilize certain types of partial
dentures.
Multiple Implants:
Multiple Implants are used to anchor fixed bridges or stabilize
various types of dentures. Patients who have been embarrassed to
eat in public can predictably overcome dental disabilities with the
proper implementation of this incredible technology.
